Fast Friday

In Egypt, Friday is the day for church. As such, 5 hours after I arrived at the airport Clay and I were walking out the door to take the subway across town to church. His branch here is made up of 12 ex-pat families and 4 young single adults. Being the first Friday of the month, they kept referring to it as "Fast Friday." After church we had some taco salad for linger longer in the most beautiful outdoor backyard I have ever seen at a church building. Not bad, not bad. It was fascinating hearing the stories of the people who live here.

Crossing the street here. There's no such thing as feeling safe while you're doing it. The cars don't stop or really even slow down for pedestrians. So if you're trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic, you do it one lane at a time as cars rush by you on all sides, all the while horns are honking as to say "are you american? and do you have any idea what you're doing here?" It's...awesome.

I'm flying to Luxor this afternoon to start my 4-day Nile Cruise. It comes with the highest recommendations--one of the most amazing things to do/see in the world. I'll look forward to sharing my pictures.
